Tuindorp Vreewijk, kroniek van een herstructurering (Garden Village Vreewijk, chronicle of a restructuring)

In the period 2008-2013 ‘Het Portaal’ produced a series short films about the restructuring of the Rotterdam ‘garden village’ Vreewijk.

Tuindorp Vreewijk in Rotterdam-South was largely built in the period 1915-1930. After a few modest refurbishments in the seventies and eighties, a large part of Vreewijk is now on the eve of a more extensive renovation operation. In 2007, the Feijenoord district council and the Havensteder corporation presented a neighbourhood vision, in which the demolition of many homes was announced. Residents, businesses, neighborhood organizations and action committees stirred. Meanwhile, the emphasis on demolition has shifted to renovation. This film project (36 films in total) documents the restructuring process in Vreewijk in the period 2008-2013 from several points of view.
Directed by Perry Boomsluiter and Han Hoezen, commisioned by Het Portaal.
